Poppy Ajudha, a south London singer using her creativity to empower women and explore identity, played her debut headline show in 2017 and has since become a key figure in the new wave of artists reinventing UK jazz and soul.

Last year Ajudha released her Femme EP, addressing topics including race, gender and sexuality, with the cover art reimagining French impressionist Henri Rousseau’s The Dream to feature ‘a collective of Women of Colour, pictured reclaiming the spaces in which they are often the subject of fantasy and exoticism in both their everyday life and intimate sexual relationships’. She also collaborated with Tom Misch on his single Disco Yes, earning herself a mention on former US president Barack Obama’s ‘Best of 2018’ list. The 22 year old also made it onto the NME 100 list, being tipped as one of the artists to watch in 2019 and will tour the UK, touching down at London’s Village Underground on April 3.
